Christian Ronaldo is UEFA Best Player in Europe
Cristiano Ronaldo was named the Best Player in Europe by UEFA on Thursday in
Monaco, beating out club teammate Gareth Bale and city rival Antoine Griezmann in the process. Griezmann had a career year, Bale was fantastic for club and country,
but Ronaldo's performances in Champions League and Euro 2016 meant he was
always going to be the winner.
Ronaldo had a sensational year, scoring 51 goals in 48 matches for Madrid,
and leading Portugal to its first-ever international trophy, scoring three goals on the
way to winning the EURO 2016 Championship.
He was up against Gareth Bale, who didn't have quite as sparkling a year as the man
who occupies the opposite wing as him at Real Madrid. Bale managed 19 league
goals, and bodily dragged Wales to their first-ever European Championship semi-final,
but to be fair, he probably snuck into the top three on the strength of that European
performance, especially considering how Luis Suarez played this year.
Ronaldo earned this trophy. Luis Suarez perhaps deserved to be in the running, and
Antoine Griezmann probably now has a Ronaldo-sized chip on his shoulder after
losing the Champions League final, European Championship final, and now the Best
Player award to Ronaldo, but he can't really have any complaints about this one.
Ronaldo stands supreme once more.

"Now I will challenge the other great goalkeepers the Club has and together I hope we

Diego Costa's late Strike ,Begin Conte's Era
Diego Costa's late goal gave Antonio Conte's Chelsea a 2-1 win over
West Ham at Stamford Bridge on Monday.
The Blues were largely dominant and took the lead shortly after half-
time through Eden Hazard's penalty.
The introduction of Dimitri Payet looked to have helped the Hammers,
who lost record signing Andre Ayew to injury in the first half, snatch a
point as his corner was turned in by James Collins in the 77th minute.
Despite the late nature of their triumph, Chelsea - still unbeaten at home to West
Ham in the Premier League since September 2002 – were deserving of the
victory, with Conte celebrating wildly after the controversial Costa struck.
The Blues are back in action away to Watford on Saturday, while Slaven Bilic's
men have a Europa League tie against Astra on Thursday.
Conte threw on Pedro, Michy Batshuayi and Victor Moses in the closing stages
and was ecstatic when his alterations paid dividends.
It was debutant Batshuayi's flick that picked out Costa more than 20 yards from
goal, with the Spain striker finding the bottom corner to seal a memorable
victory, sending Conte wild on the touchline.
